Bio:

Gail Gallagher is a Chicago based Singer-Songwriter, Composer, improv music director, producer, and teacher whose lyric-driven songs reflect on the highs and lows of life exploring nuances of whimsy and wisdom.

 Originally from Waterloo, Iowa, Gail attended University of Nebraska-Lincoln and graduated with a dual BA in Theater Performance & Directing/ Theater Management in 2010. She has worked as a music director in the improv and theater scene for over a decade and has composed original music for several musicals including Feathers: A Super Hero Musical which won “Best underscore throughout” at the 2017 Premiere Premieres Festival of New Musical Comedies at MCL Chicago. 

Recently, Gail composed and music directed And Tango Makes Three the musical in as part of the After School Matters summer program in collaboration with Senn Arts High School. 

Under the name Sparklebard Studios, Gail creates custom podcast theme songs and offers podcast editing and audio production services. Gail has hosted and produced two podcasts where she interviews musicians. Her first one, faith and what resonates focused on art and spirituality. Her second one The DAWk Show featured musicians talking about their production process and screen sharing their digital audio workstations (DAWs). 

Gail is a teacher at Access Contemporary music in Chicago’s Rogers Park neighborhood. She offers lessons in piano, voice, and ukulele with opportunities for lessons in songwriting and audio production. She teaches kids ages 5 and up as well as adults. 

In 2020, Gail released her debut album Power of the Unnamed Passion which is available on all streaming platforms.
